WHAT IS YORK COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGY?

Hello and welcome to my website. I am Emma Bradshaw, a Counselling Psychologist with a private practice based on the outskirts of York. I am currently only offering online therapy due to COVID-19 restrictions.

WHO CAN THERAPY HELP?

Therapy offers a confidential space to talk through your difficulties and can be a helpful opportunity for you to identify positive changes to make in your life.

WHAT APPROACHES ARE USED?

I use an integrative relational approach, drawing on techniques from a variety of therapeutic approaches according to your needs. I focus on developing a trusting therapeutic relationship to create a safe environment for you to explore your difficulties. I am an accredited EMDR practitioner and am also trained to use the EMDR Flash Technique.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN?

The first step would be to contact me to arrange an initial 15 minute telephone consultation to briefly discuss what you are hoping to gain from therapy. If appropriate we can then meet for a 90 minute assessment appointment. If we agree together that therapy may be helpful for you, ongoing therapy sessions can be arranged.

HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?

Ongoing therapy sessions are usually 50 minutes every week. Sometimes 90 minute sessions are required for EMDR therapy.
